  77. This package contains the THE CALLING TREE(TM) CONTACT MANAGER by
  78. IN/QUEST, LLC.  This document contains only a brief description of the
  79. package and its features, along with instructions for its installation.
  80. Detailed documentation is included in the package, but it is in archived
  81. form, and is more easily read after installation.
  82.  
  83. If you've ever wished you could easily keep track of and contact the
  84. people in a hierachial tree like organization, then THE CALLING TREE
  85. is the program for you...
  86.  
  87. THE CALLING TREE is a shareware program distributed under the guidelines.
  88. of the Association Of Shareware Professionals (ASP). This evaluation
  89. version includes all features of the program, and is not crippled in any
  90. way. You may use it for up to 30 days, without charge (see CT.DOC for
  91. more details).  If you like the program, and wish to continue its use
  92. after this evaluation period, you are required to pay for the program
  93. (see REGISTER.DOC for more details).  Any fee you may have paid to others
  94. (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation version was a fee
  95. for their copying and distribution services, rather than a payment for
  96. continued use of the program.

  98. FEATURES.......
  99.  
  100. THE CALLING TREE is a contact manager database aimed at helping an
  101. organization that needs to track its members in a hierarchical manner.
  102. Meaning... At the very top there is one person who is the beginning of
  103. an organization of some nature or another.  He/She has some function or
  104. responsibility where they have to contact one or more people directly
  105. and those people then have a function or responsibility to contact
  106. others directly under them.  And so on down through the tree.  It might
  107. be an emergency calling system for some emergency response effort, or
  108. some simple contact tree to keep club members up to date on meeting
  109. changes, or for a large MLM, or network marketing organization want to
  110. track all the people downline from them.
  111.  
  112. The Calling Tree supports...
  113.  
  114. 1)  Add as many people as your disk drive can hold.  Use your ID for
  115.     each member or let the system automatically assign an ID Number.
  116. 2)  Can automatically assign members to the next available Family Queue
  117. 3)  Delete anyone (Any associated downline will automatically compress
  118.     up to the next level.
  119. 4)  Move any member to any other member's Family Queue
  120.     (If a member has a downline, Optionally move the their downline with
  121.     them or let their downline compress up to the next level)
  122. 5)  Track up to 7 phone numbers (Day, Night, Cellular, Fax, Voice Mail,
  123.     Pager, Other).  Vanity phone numbers (ie 1-800-MAKE-DOE) supported.
  124. 6)  Integrated Dialer.  Dial any phone number from the screen.
  125. 7)  Track up to 5 dates (defined by you, the user)
  126. 8)  Several print out options, including ability to print out multiple
  127.     layers of Family Queues for maximum contact capability.
  128. 9)  Work on data sets based on search and retrieval phrases or key words.
  129. 10) Quick views of whole database, member's Family Queue or Family
  130.     groups
  131. 11) Quick Key step up/down through tree.
  132. 12) 5 optional print out formats (with several variations of each)
  133.     including an MLM Genealogy (to 50 levels), Mailing Labels, Forms,
  134.     Call Sheets, etc.
  135. 13) Great search and retrieval features including {AND} {OR} {NOT} etc.
  136. 14) Display Calendar of any month from 1981-> 15) Supports direct
  137.     launch/data exchange with unlimited external program (Editors, Phone
  138.     CD's etc.) and returns to where you left off.

  140.     Plus other features.

  142.   Copy the distribution file to a NEW directory on your harddrive
  143.   then type the file name 'i.e. ZTREEXX' to have it automatically self
  144.   extract from its compressed distribution file.  Using the INSTALL
  145.   program will take care of most new and updated installations.  As in
  146.   all upgrading situ ations, it is always safe to make a backup copy of
  147.   your program before proceeding.  Refer to the documentation if you
  148.   have any questions.

  150.   Helpful    This program is a database that, for a fair portion of its
  151.   Hints:     operations, does a lot of disk drive accessing.  You will
  152.              notice a dramatic difference in speed if you are using a
  153.              good disk caching program with read and write enabled.
  154.  
  155.   To install THE CALLING TREE just type:
  156.      INSTALL {from Drive/Directory} {to Drive/Directory} and press enter
  157.  
  158.  
  159. STARTING THE CALLING TREE:...........
  160.  
  161.   To start type 'CT' then Enter.
  162.  
  163. THE CALLING TREE will take you directly to the setup and configuration
  164. screen. While in the configuration screen, you might take a moment and
  165. select 'S' for system defaults to make sure your Auto Build is set to
  166. your liking.  If you set it to 'Y' it will automatically assign new
  167. members to existing upline members for you.  (You may always manually
  168. reassign someone using the [F4] key. Manually assigned people will
  169. override the Auto Build function.)
  170.  
  171. Once you have completed this step, press the [F8] key to get to the Main
  172. Menu.  From there just start entering (Option 1)) your tree members.
  173.

  175. This is Shareware.  As an unregistered shareware user, a person is
  176. permitted to make as many copies as they desire and distribute these
  177. copies freely.  A person may not charge more that $8 per disk for this
  178. service and that fee only covers the copying service effort.

  234. ===== Installation =====================================
  235.  
  236. The installation procedure for THE CALLING TREE is quite simple.  The
  237. package includes a program, "INSTALL.EXE", which automates the
  238. entire process.  You will need about 1 megabyte of available disk space
  239. on the hard drive on which you plan to install THE CALLING TREE.
  240.  
  241. Is this going to be a NEW Installation or an UPGRADE Installation?
  242.  
  243. NEW INSTALLATION.
  244.  
  245.   If you are installing THE CALLING TREE for the first time on your
  246.   system,
  247.  
  248.   o  Simply copy the distribution file to a new directory on your hard
  249.      disk.
  250.   o  Self Extract (.EXE) or Unarchive (.ZIP) files.
  251.   o  Run program by typing 'CT' [ENTER]
  252.   o  Enter System Operator information and save.
  253.   o  Optionally, you may want to go to System Default - Configuration
  254.      and customize how you want this system to work.  There is plenty
  255.      of built in context sensitive help through the [F1] key.
  256.  
  257. UPGRADE INSTALLATION (Two Methods)  Method A or B
  258.  
  259.   A. Install distribution files directly to OLD directory.
  260.      Perform the same two steps as above for a new installation.
  261.      Using the included 'Install' program, install this new version
  262.      into the old directly as follows
  263.  
  264.          INSTALL {present directory} {old version directory}
  265.          Example: INSTALL c:\temp c:\ctree
  266.  
  267.      Install will rename some files, copy all new version files to the
  268.      old directory and then leave you at the DOS prompt of the old
  269.      directory.
  270.  
  271.      Run the program by typing 'CT' as always, but this time the system
  272.      will immediately jump to conversion mode and update all the files
  273.      with the old data before giving you control.
  274.  
  275.      NOTE: If you choose this method, you must use the INSTALL program
  276.      to install the new version to the old version directory.
  277.  
  278.  
  279.   B. Install distribution files to NEW directory and copy old data.
  280.  
  281.      Same as if you are installing CT for the first time (see above),
  282.      but once your installation is completed and you are at the main
  283.      menu, select Operator Information, then [F4] Options, then '5' Copy
  284.      Old data.  This will copy the old data to the new version.
  285.  
  286.      When you're comfortable with the new version, you should delete the
  287.      old version from your system.
  288.  
  289. YOU'RE READY TO GO
  290.  
  291. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the document
  292. CT.DOC which has been installed.  In particular, read at least the
  293. "Overview" and "Quick Start" sections of the file "CT.DOC".  That
  294. document will tell you how to invoke the program, and will give you
  295. other information you need to properly evaluate THE CALLING TREE.  We
  296. hope you enjoy the program.
